boys aren’t supposed to wear dresses?
“Nobody says anything about that”
I’ve reblogged this about 40 times. But let me do it again.
His autopsy reports did show that his skin colour was changed by the condition, not artificially.
I love Michael Jackson. Judge all you want.
I thought this was really really common knowledge…?
i did a thing
this obviously isn’t exhaustive - these aren’t all the reasons why these women are feminists, and it’s certainly not all the feminists in pop culture at the moment
if i forgot anyone please put them in the reblogs
You can’t tell them whether they are feminists or not - that’s their choice.
But sure, if they identify as feminist, I see no reason why being in the media makes any difference.
I just found it cool to learn what Lucy Liu does.
chloe appreciation!
A very clever explanation of why Batman is the best!

say what you want about her music, but nicki minaj is a strong figure in the terms of feminism and turning the sexualization of the music around. she’s caused a heck of a lot of titter for rapping and singing about things that if she were a male would be perfectly normal and acceptable. please think about this before you openly decide to slash her or her music
“You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe [x3]
You a stupid hoe, (yeah) you a, you a stupid hoe
You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe (stupid, stupid)
You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe (you stupid, stupid)
You a stupid hoe, you a, you a stupid hoe (you stupid, stupid)
You a stupid hoe, (yeah) you a, you a stupid hoe (you stupid, stupid)”This is not an isolated case of her hating on other women for their looks in her songs. Sorry not sorry, girl on girl hate is not feminism.
I’d agree with Emma on this. Nicki Minaj does say some positive things about women but her use of women in her music has been degrading at times. Thoughts?
I don’t listen to her music (or music in her “genre” I guess but the little I’ve heard doesn’t suit my taste. That means nothing about her as a performer. But if her songs have lyrics like the one quoted above, I’d say that’s a pretty good reason to dislike her.
Feminists tend to co-opt famous strong women in the media and call them feminists when they don’t necessarily identify as feminists. I’m not saying whether it is good or bad, it’s just a thing that happens and it happened with Nicki Minaj. She is positive in that she is the best selling woman in rap ever and in a genre dominated by men that is a huge accomplishment. The thing is some of her lyrics are misogynistic and I think her music should be scrutinized as an artist just like any other.
Yeah I noticed that. I don’t like how they shove it down others’ throats without considering whether or not they want to identify as feminists, but that’s a minimal issue.
I get that her success is something to look up to. But just as a male rapper can be misogynistic, so can female rappers, and so I think it’s only fair that their lyrics go through the same microscope as everyone else’s.
It’s like the thing with Taylor Swift. She’s highly successful, she does what she wants, but at the same time she is not only a huge hypocrite, but a lot of her songs criticize women who don’t repress their own sexuality, whilst at the same time, she does the same stuff (albeit singing about herself in some weird, “angelic” traditionalist way.
Same deal. You can do what you want, but your content should be just as scrutinized as anyone else. And that goes for men and women.

Isn’t it sad that this list of “What are my options” suggests help for two different groups of women (younger and older women) as well as indigenous, same-sex oriented or of other gender identities, and recognise them as victims,
but when you look for anything specific to me, all you can find is
That’s just plain sad, man.
It literally says there are a number of options to seek help in respect of a man’s anger.
Not a single thing about if he is the one being abused.
Oh and an Australian report I found - apparently that because a number of unrelated, independent studies (one being a study conducted in Melbourne) resulted in the outcome that men and women were abused at equal rates, that there must clearly be questionable methods at use (without a doubt, it seems), and proper analysis shouldn’t “fall into the trap of asserting that men are just as likely to experience violence and abuse as women.”
Australia - I am seriously disappointed.
